Chandler Park Wetlands Kew - project implementation (3052)

Boroondara City Council

Project duration: 2017-2019
Funding: $200,000
Location: Kew

The Chandler Park Wetlands, alongside the Main Yarra Trail in Kew, will treat 416ML of stormwater before it enters the Yarra River and Port Philip Bay.  Stormwater will be gravity diverted from a regional drain through a constructed wetland system; as stormwater flows through the system, it will be treated and pollutants removed prior to discharge to the Yarra and ultimately Port Phillip Bay.   It will provide enhanced habitat for wildlife as well as recreational and learning opportunities.
Benefits will include biodiversity enhancement, through enhanced habitat for wildlife and increased recreational amenity benefiting all visitors, including cyclists and pedestrians on the nearby Main Yarra Trail.
